Baked Feta in a Sesame Crust with Honey & Truffle
If cheese is life, melted cheese must be heaven, right? So let’s coat some feta in a sesame crust, drizzle it with honey (because sweet and savoury combinations are just the best) and bake it until the feta is nicely warm and soft inside and crunchy on the outside. If you are as obsessed with truffle as I am, drizzle the feta with some truffle oil et voila: you’ve got the perfect addition to your cheese platter or just a nice sharing dish in case sharing is an option here. Let me know, how you liked it.
Ingredients
Serves 2
Preparation time: 25 mins
1 feta cheese (200 g)
3 tbsp flour
1 egg
3 tbsp bread crumbs
1 tbsp white sesame seeds
1 tbsp black sesame seeds
3 tbsp honey
1 tsp truffle oil
bread for serving
Method
Preheat oven to 180 °C.
Line up 3 shallow bowls big enough for the feta to fit in as a whole.
Add 3 tbsp flour into the first bowl, beat 1 egg in the second bowl and combine 3 tbsp bread crumbs with 1 tbsp white and 1 tbsp black sesame in the third bowl.
Cover 1 feta in flour, then in egg and then in sesame-breadcrumb mix.
Place feta on a piece of silver foil, drizzle with 3 tbsp honey and bake on middle oven rack for 15 minutes.
Drizzle 1 tsp truffle oil over the feta and serve warm with bread or salad.
Enjoy!
